Natural redwood comb with handle – ideal for straight, wavy, and slightly curly hair. Handcrafted in Lithuania with FSC certified redwood.

Sometimes the simplest tools are the best ones. This natural wooden hair comb is handmade from a single piece of solid wood – no glue, no plastic, no shortcuts. Just a well-crafted comb that does exactly what a comb should do.

The teeth are spaced to work well for straight, slightly wavy, and medium-thickness hair. Every tooth is hand-polished to a smooth, rounded tip – so the comb glides through your hair rather than dragging. No snagging, no static, no split ends.

Redwood (mahogany) features a reddish-brown hue, close-grained texture, and naturally elegant appearance.

Each comb is treated with jojoba oil, almond oil, and beeswax – a natural, non-toxic finish that protects the wood from moisture, enhances the grain, and gives the surface a smooth, pleasant feel.

Dimensions: 21 × 5.5 × 1.5 cm. Suitable for hair and beard. Plastic-free packaging – thoughtful by design.

Every comb is slightly different in grain and shade – that is the beauty of working with natural wood. Made in Lithuania from FSC-certified timber sourced through Woodline.

Care Instructions

Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid soaking in water. Apply a small amount of natural oil (linseed, almond, or coconut) every few months to maintain the finish and smooth texture. Store in a dry place.

Frequently Asked Questions

What wood is best for a natural hair comb?

Cherry, walnut, and mahogany are excellent choices for natural wooden hair combs. Cherry has a fine, tight grain ideal for gentle combing on all hair types. Walnut is exceptionally durable. Mahogany has a smooth, dense surface that polishes well and glides easily through hair. All MDstore combs are made from FSC-certified wood.

Is a wooden hair comb good for fine hair?

Yes. Wooden combs are gentler on fine hair than plastic ones because they do not create static, which is a leading cause of breakage and frizz in fine hair. The smooth, rounded teeth reduce mechanical stress on each strand, making them a recommended tool by many natural hair care advocates.

Does a wooden comb reduce frizz?

Yes. Static electricity from plastic combs is a primary cause of frizz. Wood is a natural material that does not generate static, so using a wooden comb significantly reduces flyaways and frizz – especially in dry conditions or during winter.

Can I use this comb for my beard?

Yes. The MDstore natural wooden comb works equally well for hair and beard. The teeth spacing and smooth tips make it comfortable to use on facial hair, and the jojoba oil finish means the comb already carries a light conditioning treatment with it.

Why buy a handmade wooden comb instead of a mass-produced one?

Handmade wooden combs are crafted from a single solid piece of wood – no moulded plastic, no injected resin, no weak join points. Every tooth is individually polished, which means a smoother surface and gentler contact with your hair and scalp. They also last far longer and leave no microplastics in your environment.

Can I use a wooden comb on wet or damp hair?

It depends on the wood type. Cherry and mahogany can handle brief contact with damp hair – but this means occasional combing of towel-dried hair, not use in the shower. Walnut is more sensitive to moisture and is best kept dry. After combing damp hair, always pat the comb dry and apply a small amount of natural oil. Never leave any wooden comb in a wet or steamy bathroom.

All MDstore combs are made from high-quality wood sourced from responsibly managed forests. Our wood supplier – Woodline – holds an FSC certificate, ensuring sustainable resource use and environmental conservation.
